Victor Henry Wilson, F/O, J - 37822

Victor Henry Wilson was born 21 December 1913 in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated from Central Technical High School and was employed as an engineering technician by B.A. Oil. (British American). He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. on August 7, 1942 in Toronto as a bombardier and took his training at Trenton Air Force Base. He was awarded the Air Bomber’s Badge and commissioned as Flying Officer on October 29, 1943. He was shipped overseas on November 24, 1943 and was posted to 115th Squadron in England.

During a massive daylight bombing raid over Essen, Germany, October 25th, 1944, his plane was shot down and none of the crew survived. The crew was buried by the Polish Underground and after the war, the bodies were moved to the Reichswald Forest Cemetery in Kleve, Germany.

Victor was awarded the following Service Awards: 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-1945, Operational Wings and Certificate and the Memorial Cross (posthumously).
