The Uxbridge Honour our Veterans Banner Program is an ongoing legacy project that pays tribute to Canadian and Allied veterans and current services personnel. Honour our Veteran Banners are displayed on lamp posts between October 1 and November 12 each year as a means to pay tribute to our local veterans, deceased veterans and active service members.

Through the displaying of banners, we hope to engage the community in honouring and remembering our veterans through our mission of:

  • Honouring our local veterans, deceased veterans and active service members

  • Promoting remembrance in our community

  • Educating students and the community on the faces and stories of service of our veterans

  • Promoting remembrance in neighboring communities and across the country

The inspiration for our Uxbridge Honour our Veterans Banner Program came after seeing a similar veteran recognition program in St. George, New Brunswick, and others in the New England States. With Uxbridge being a town that is proud of its military heritage, and already has a strong tradition of remembrance;  committee members were confident that a banner program would be extremely well received.  As only the third community in Canada to initiate a banner program, we are delighted with such positive community response which through the years has honoured over 300 veterans, and we have been privileged to assist many other communities across Canada and the United States initiate their own banner programs.

Coordinated by the Uxbridge Honour our Veterans Banner Committee in partnership with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170, the Township of Uxbridge and individual sponsors; we are honoured and humbled to facilitate this program.
