An expert in graphics work, Phil created our Uxbridge Banner design template, and he also works with family members and sponsors in creating the digital file for each individual veteran banner. Rob Croxall - RCL Branch 170 Treasurer

“I feel very fortunate to have lived in Uxbridge my entire life. I grew up on a dairy farm just east of Uxbridge, studied at the University of Toronto in pharmacy, and had practices in Stouffville and Sunderland for many years.

My wife Karen, is the Madre for our Uxbridge Legion and that is how I initially became involved with the Branch. I am currently the Treasurer here as well.

I have always had great appreciation for the sacrifice our veterans have made. The banner program is a great way to honour so many veterans, and I am pleased to assist the committee with the finances.”

Bruce Garrod - Township of Uxbridge representative

As the Township of Uxbridge Council representative for the Veterans Banner program, I’m proud to be able to help support this important recognition of our Veterans. Although my dad, who was a WWII British navy veteran, did not live in Uxbridge, he has a unique connection to the community through his participatin at the Township’s Remembrance Day service. He always spoke of the moving impact of the role call. Many also remember his reading of In Flanders Fields at the Uxbridge Secondary School Remembrance Day service. I am proud of my dad and love that his banner will continue to be displayed each year in Uxbridge. We Will Remember Them

Lesley Burnett - GIS Specialist

Lesley is a GIS Specialist who uses spatial data to create maps.  She is excited to be able to use her skills to assist the Banner Program.  Lesley grew up with stories told by her relatives recounting their time in World War II.  She is grateful that the Banner Program not only keeps her relatives close to her heart, but also helps to remember all who have sacrificed.

Nancy Melcher - Veteran Biographies

Nancy Melcher likes to write. Whether it’s stories for the Uxbridge Cosmos or biographies of veterans for the banner project, words are important to her. An Uxbridge resident since 1983, this retired teacher is an active volunteer with local arts or environmental groups, out on the trails or backstage with theatre companies, cleaning roadside garbage or in the kitchen with Rotary. Nancy is pleased to bring the stories of our veterans back to life, so their service record helps to keep their memory alive.
