Vernon Robertson
Vern Robertson enlisted in the United States Army in the 73rd Armoured Field Batallion in Camp Chaffe Arkansas, where he completed basic training. After training, he was posted to Fort Bliss Texas, which was the home of the US Army Air Artillery training school. While here, he worked with an anti-aircraft regiment, where he was repaired jeeps, trucks, and tanks. After staying here for six months, his regiment left for Newark, New Jersey, in order to be shipped to Korea. Because of a train delay, their orders changed, and they were instead posted to Karlsruhe, Germany. Karlsruhe was home to an American Military base, where Vern stayed for three and a half years, as part of the army of the post war allied occupation.
