
Robert W. Markell
Uxbridge Secondary School graduate Robert Markell is a retired Chief Warrant Officer who served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 35 years from 1982-2017. He completed 3 tours of CFS Alert (Nunavut), 1 North Atlantic deployment aboard a US Destroyer, 1 tour of duty in Bosnia and 2 Tours of Duty in Afghanistan. Chief Warrant Officer Markell received a Chief of Defence Staff Commendation in 2006 while a member of the Coalition Joint Special Operations Task Force in Bagram Afghanistan for actions that resulted in the capture of 2 enemy insurgents and recovered enough explosives to create 60 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's). As a result, CWO Markell was credited with undoubtedly saving the lives of many Coalition soldiers. We thank Rob for his service.
