Ray Coxworth
As a veteran of WWll, Ray made many significant contributions to the war effort. He volunteered for service to the Canadian Armed Forces as he joined the Ordinance Corps in 1941, and was soon transferred to the Signal Corps. Ray service in England, went on to Sicily on October 23, 1943, and on December 23 of that same year was transferred to Italy. On March 15, 1944, his detachment left Italy by water to France and then by land through France and Belgium, and finally into Holland where they finished out the war. Ray’s service as a signalman supported the combat efforts through communication responsibilities which included dispatch, phone, radio work and truck driving duties. His regiment experienced artillery fire on many occasions and as wounded members left for medical care and replaced with others, there would never be word of their status (unless they returned of course). Ray made many friends and served well. He returned to Canada on October 23, 1945 and was discharged from the army on December 5, 1945.
We Will Remember Them.
