John Thomas Davison
John Thomas Davison was born May 7th 1886, and was 29 when he enlisted in the military in July of 1915. He enlisted in Toronto and received his basic training in the Niagara region beginning in August of 1915. John served overseas in England, Belgium and in France.
When walking in Belgium alongside his friend, they stepped on an explosive device that almost killed him and unfortunately killed his friend. When members of the Canadian military found them, they were both presumed dead, and they were placed with the other deceased soldiers. It wasn’t until hours later after he had been lying in the unforgiving sun that someone noticed his movement and took him to be taken care of. The explosion caused the fracture of his right scapula and clavicle as well as other flesh wounds from debris. He then developed tremors and issues with speech. In addition to those injuries, he also got shot in the leg. This was a flesh wound and was treated in battle. John was discharged on January 10th 1919 and later passed away in November of 1939.
