John Eamon McGurk

John enlisted for service in the Royal Canadian Air Force when he was 18 years old. He trained as a mechanic for aircraft ground crew; and was stationed at CAF Base Borden (Barrie) and CAF Uplands Air Force Base (Ottawa) where he served as a Leading aircraftman (LAC) with 428 Squadron Crew. He served for four years, from 1956-1960.

One notable moment for John was when he had the privilege of meeting Air Marshal Hugh Lester Campbell, CBE, CD, and former Chief of the Air Staff, who developed the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan at CFB Uplands.
