Helen Smith (Joel)

Helen enlisted for service in the Second World War with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps at 18 years of age. Helen was one of 450 CWAC who served in the Military Police Role, most of them service in Canada and England. CWAC Military Police had the same powers and authority as members of the Provost Corps, but over other CWAC personnel. CWAC Military Police training, including firearms training, graduates were posted to Provost Corps units for duty.
