George I. Robson
Ninety-three year old, George Robson, served with the Merchant Navy from May of 1944 to December 1944. He served aboard the MS Margarette Bakke, one of over a thousand merchant navy ships flying the Norwegian flag, during the Second World War. His vessel travelled in and out of ports-of-call all over the world. While on the ship, George’s job was as a messagoot, in the kitchen. After his service with the Norwegian Merchant Navy, George joined the Army with the 2nd battalion, and volunteered to become a paratrooper. George remained in service with the Regimental Police until he was honourably discharged in 1946.
We Thank George for his service.
