Frederick E. Varley
Frederick E. Varley was the son of Thomas Herbert and Alice Varley.
He served overseas with the 4th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. He went missing in action during The Great War on June 16, 1915, at the age of 20. His body was never recovered, but the small Bible he carried in his breast pocket was found.
He is honoured at the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, Belgium. (Panel 6 & 8).
