Charles O. MacDonell

Charlie MacDonnell joined the RCAF in 1943 when he was he was 17 years old.  He enlisted in Montreal and completed basic training at the CNE Grounds in Toronto.  He completed electricians training in St. Thomas, and was then sent to Nova Scotia to Royal Canadian Air Force Station Stanley.  He was part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, which was responsible for the Canadian Training of over 131,000 Air Servicemen.  Charlie became a maintenance expert, maintained planes for the instructors in the BCATP who taught young allied pilots how to fly in combat operations.  Charlie remained in service until he was discharged in 1946.  We Will Remember Them
