Charles R. Gummow

Charles Robert Gummow was born in 1924 in Milestone, Saskatchewan, moving at a later date with his family to Parry Sound, Ontario.

He enlisted with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in 1943, and arrived in England in March 1944. Rifleman Gummow was wounded twice in service, first receiving burns to his face, hands and legs, but was able to return to service shortly thereafter. He was then seriously wounded on December 19, 1944 in an attack on an isolated house in the Wylie area of Holland and died four days later of his wounds.

He is buried at Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands.
