Barrie Mellor
Barrie enlisted in the British Service on October 19th, 1950, at the age of 21, as part of the Royal Electrical Engineers. He was trained at Kimmel Park Camp in the United Kingdom, and was stationed in the UK, the Isle of White, and in Moascar, Egypt. As part of the REME, Barrie was responsible for regular inspection, testing, maintenance and modification of Army equipment to ensure it was always ready for action. He worked in the Suez Canal zone, where he was involved in the execution of schemes crossing the Sinai Desert to the Gulf of Aquaba.
